Eastern Long Island Chapter

Call for Volunteers

Thank you for your interest in the Surfrider Foundation Eastern Long Island Chapter!  You can check out our upcoming volunteer opportunities on our new volunteer platform here. You can also add your name to our volunteer list here.  Any other questions or inquiries, please contact our volunteer coordinator.

Specific Volunteer Programs:

Become part of our Blue Water Task Force

Are you available for volunteering on Monday mornings? We are actively searching for dedicated volunteers to help us with some of our water testing locations in the East Hampton and North Fork areas. This citizen science program is important for informing beach-goers about safe water conditions at our recreational beaches.  It’s also a great way to get out in nature, get your hands wet and provide important data to our community! Help us host a successful Surf Movie Night

We will be hosting our 20th annual Surf Movie Night this September and we need all hands on deck!  This year we are looking to expand our current planning committee to help us acquire auction items, assist with administrative tasks and public relations.  If you love event planning and promotion, we’d love your help!

Join our Executive Committee

The Eastern Long Island Chapter holds its elections every November, and will need to fill various positions depending on the year. If you are looking to step up your commitment to Surfrider in a more meaningful way, this could be an opportunity for you. Executive Committee members commit to two-year term, volunteer for 2-10 hours a week, and contribute their talents and skills to focused projects. If you’re interested, reach out to our chapter coordinator!

Other Ways to Get Involved

Our most immediate needs are listed above, but there will be more opportunities coming up in the near future, for example:

Beach Cleanup Leaders: We receive lots of requests to host beach cleanups, and could always use a few extra hands to help us lead them!
Gardening Days: Our Ocean Friendly Garden will need maintenance as it grows and blooms and we hope to organize a few gardening days later on in the summer and fall.
Ocean Friendly Restaurants: We also plan to expand our Ocean Friendly Restaurants program soon and would love help canvassing and recruiting local businesses to join our program.

If you’re interested in any of the above opportunities, please email our volunteer coordinator or sign up on our volunteer platform. You can also be notified of upcoming events by adding your name to our newsletter below!
