Earth Day Clean Up at Ditch Plains

BogettiIt started out as a cold rainy and windy day, but by 10:00am it had warmed up and the sun began peaking though the clouds. Despite the harsh start to the day, over 30 people joined together to clean plastics, cans, glass and a myriad of other trash off Ditch Plains beach. Part of a larger effort to clean Montauk,  the annual Earth Day event organized by CCOM Concerned Citizens of MTK) and Surfrider Foundation, draws hundreds of people together to celebrate our environment and make an effort to improve it.

It was also great to see entire families turn words into action and work together to pick up trash that other less-caring people have discarded on the beach and in the ocean. Special thanks to Charlie and Abby Weimar for showing their children what it means to be environmentally aware. The Bogetti family and other family groups joined the effort, as well
