Beach Clean-up News
Montauk Point Clean-up August 16, 2003
Long Island Surfrider chapter co-chairman, Bob Casper organized a 3-pronged beach cleanup that included Camp Hero State Park, East Hampton Town Nature Preserve at Turtle Cove, and Montauk Point State Park. The Montauk Point clean-up was held on August 16, 2003 with many members and non-members pitching in. Montauk State Parks Superintendent Tom Dess was on hand for the event. Tom and Ed Michels, East Hampton Harbormaster, were instrumental in supplying logistical support to help make the clean-up a great success.In addition to Montauk Point clean-up, Bob also organized a beach clean-up covering the entire Ditch Plain area on Labor Day Weekend.In his continuing efforts to bring the Surfrider message to a wider audience, Bob also spoke to the senior class at the Ross School in East Hampton concerning coastal environmental responsibility.
