BLUE WATER TASK FORCE

The Blue Water Task Force (BWTF) is the Surfrider Foundation’s volunteer-run, water testing, education and advocacy program. We measure bacteria levels at our beaches to alert citizens and officials about water quality problems, and work toward solutions.

OCEAN FRIENDLY GARDENS

Urban runoff is the #1 source of ocean pollution. Ocean Friendly Gardens seek to reduce urban runoff by applying principles of Conservation, Permeability, and Retention to our landscapes and hardscapes. Learn how to use rainwater and native habitat as a resource to protect clean water.

STRAWLESS SUMMER

The goal of Strawless Summer is to reduce amount of plastic straws that are being used in Eastern Long Island. We are capturing and celebrating restaurants who are choosing to make plastic straws an item of their past.

RISE ABOVE PLASTICS

Change begins onshore, and it starts with you. Show your commitment to our oceans, waves and beaches by making a few simple changes. Also, help us encourage our local government to pass legislation that encourages a consciousness of plastics and prevents plastic pollution.

OCEAN FRIENDLY RESTAURANTS

Through this brand new program, our chapter seeks to celebrate and recognize local restaurants that are making efforts to reduce their plastic use.
