Respect the Beach Education Program - Overview

Respect the Beach Education Program

Surfrider members are available to come talk to youth and school groups about ways kids can help keep our beaches clean and healthy. We begin each presentation with a quick introduction to the Surfrider Foundation and our mission. We then watch a quick, 20-minute, video on watersheds, Sea to Summit, available online at http://www.respectthebeach.com/video.asp

We follow this video with a discussion of actions we can all take to clean up our beaches and waters. Time and location, willing, this presentation can be followed by a hands-on beach clean-up. We can also alter our program to meet your group’s needs.

In the past we have given presentations to high school surfing & environmental clubs, elementary science classes, summer camps, and to the entire 5th grade of Clayton Huey Elementary School. Our Respect the Beach program is relevant for all ages.

Please contact Mara Dias mdias@surfrider.org or Gene Gentile ggentile13@gmail.com if you would like someone from our chapter to visit your school or youth group.
