UPDATE* - May 4, 2004 - The fence is back...

The Town of East Hampton is allowing vehicular access to a fragile coastal area. This violates Federal guidelines for the use of the land and provides marginal benefit due to the rugged access and limited parking.

Surfrider Long Island recommends use of the New York State Parking field and a foot-trail to gain access to the area. This two-minute walk is a much better alternative.
