Celebrating International Surfing Day with a Surf Swap

International Surfing Day (ISD) was established in 2005 by the Surfrider Foundation and our partners to celebrate our oceans, waves, and beaches. This year, ISD fell on Juneteenth, the day that celebrates the formal end of slavery in the United States. Therefore, the theme to this year's International Surfing Day was #thebeachbelongstoeveryone.

All across the world, ocean lovers get together to celebrate by hosting beach cleanups, group paddles, or in our case - a surf swap! Our members from Bates Masi + Architects and Tarbet & Lester PLLC graciously hosted us at their building's parking lot in East Hampton. Surfers sold their used surfboards and paddleboards and made donations from each sale to the Surfrider Foundation Eastern Long Island Chapter.

This event was so much fun and we loved reconnecting with local surfers we hadn't seen in a while. Some people even decided to join in on the spot after walking or driving by our event!

Thank you to everyone who came out and made a donation to our chapter or helped us promote this event. Big thanks to our hosts Bates Masi + Architects and Tarbet & Lester PLLC, plus Faktion Surfboards, Amaden Gay Agencies@hulagirlfarms and Tiny Wave Co. for making this event such a success.
