On February 9th, Beyond Plastics hosted a grassroots lobby day in Albany. Over 200 plastics activists from all over the state joined to meet with their officials and ask them to support bills that would reduce plastic waste and pollution!
Our team had four meetings with New York Assemblymembers. We met with the offices of Assemblymembers Schiavoni, Lavine, and Stern, as well as Senators Palumbo and Sepulveda, to ask for their support on the Packaging Reduction & Recycling Infrastructure Act (A.1749 / S.1464) in NY, which would mean less debris on our beaches. Environmental justice, climate change, Skip the Stuff, and the Bigger Better Bottle Bill were also a big part of our conversations.
We were incredibly grateful for the opportunities to talk to both Assemblyman Tommy John Schiavoni & Senator Anthony Palumbo in person in Albany.

We had so much fun collaborating with other environmentalists from NYPIRG, South Shore Audubon, Beyond Plastics, and more! Special thanks to the Beyond Plastics team for organizing such a huge event!
